Oakmoss Essential Oil
Oakmoss (Evernia prunastri) Historicallyoakmoss oil was used by Native Americans to speed up healing of wounds and continues to be used in this manner thanks to its anti-septic properties. Oakmoss oil can be used in a number of ways including as an addition to soaps when its anti-bacterial and anti-septic properties are most effective. It can be added to creams and lotions for use externally to combat various skin conditions and it can be blended for use as a massage. Oakmoss oil is also effective when used in potpourri, incense, aromatherapy and as an air freshener. Oakmoss is used in perfumery and the creation of high end fragrances as a fixative and for it's earthy, base aroma. Pregnant women and breast-feeding mother are also advised to not use it. It's a viscous oil that can require gentle warming before use, especially in colder weather. Oakmoss essential oil blends well with lavender, cypress, geranium, patchouli and citrus oils.
